• Career Services Weekly Newsletter: Weekly newsletters updating the most recent events, programs, internship opportunities in different industries.
• Career Dev Resources on Canvas: An online resource center on career development available to all Fulbright students. You can find in the module’s topics on self-exploration and self-understanding, knowledge on the future of work, job application and interview preparation materials and updated workshops recordings.
• Opportunity Board: Featuring all available opportunities for students that are sent directly to us and other sites we deem helpful for your career development.
• Student One-Pager: A unique tool mapping out major milestones along your rofessional development journey. Each milestone is aligned with suggested actions and the available resources from Career Services, ensuring you receive tailored guidance every step of the way.

Career Day is an annual signature event hosted by Career Services to bring employer partners closer to Fulbright students on campus. Career Day consists of the following activities:

• Panel Discussion: an event featuring guest speakers offering diverse perspectives from their personal and professional experience in building a career. Students can network with the panelists and gain more insights on different career paths.
• Career Fair: At the career fair, students are provided with comprehensive insights into various corporations, affording them the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogues with company representatives and establish professional connections. This allows students to gather pertinent information regarding the recruitment procedures and timelines of each organization.
• Mock Interview: Mock Interview & Feedback enables students to not only showcase their potential but also receive personalized feedback from industry experts. This invaluble interaction aims to enhance their interviewing skills, empowering them to make a lasting impression on potential employers.

Fulbright’s commitment to active and whole person learning, and employability of our graduates requires that all students engage with an experiential learning opportunity (referenced as “experience” from here on) at some point during their undergraduate careers.

Broadly, “experiences” are defined as learning that occurs embedded in the actual context (and under the supervision) of an expert or practitioner, and not in a classroom environment.

Specifically, “experiences” are defined as internships, service learning, and/or independent research/production. The Experiential Learning Course, administered under the Experiential Learning Program, serves as a unifying community aspect, where students will critically reflect on and share their work. The Experiential Learning Course ensures that all Fulbright students are learning in fulfilling experiences.

At the moment, Career Services has developed diverse activities including events and workshops with student interests in mind and aligned with the capabilities of our team and partners. One highlight is the series of Skills Development Workshops, e.g. The Micro- and Macro-Contexts of your Career, Future of Work 101, Opportunity Seeking, The Basics of Applications (Resumes, Cover Letters & Interviews tips, Legal Aspects of Work, Financial Literacy, etc.)

How can I attend/ join the events and workshops?

Career Consultation is a highly personalized service for students to reflect on their experiences and interests, explore opportunities, and to receive guidance and inspiration for how to prepare for what’s next.

We’ll be the first to say that your interests will grow and change over time, much like yourself. While we understand that they will change, through a series of deep self-reflection and open exploration, you may begin identifying themes in your experiences that resonate with you. Drawing out these themes and understanding them will be foundational to your success at Fulbright and beyond!

Students can arrange to meet with a Career Consultant to review a resume, prepare for an interview, or discuss broader career aspirations. We also work closely with prospective employers to support students in learning about and recruiting our students.

Before joining our career consultation, we encourage students to explore all the available resources and activities and take this chance to deeply reflect on your journey with the consultant.

Fulbright’s Work Study Program provides students an on-campus, paid and part-time professional opportunity to gain working experience while attending Fulbright as a full-time student. Currently, the Work Study Program is managed by the Student Affairs & Services team at wsp@fulbright.edu.vn.

Students can develop and apply their skills learned through Fulbright’s diverse hiring departments, and work on projects and tasks that would not typically be afforded to undergraduate students. This allows students an opportunity to explore their personal and professional interests on-campus.

Under the Work Study Program, students have worked with Admissions and Financial Aid, Career Services, Learning Support, Library, Academic Affairs and more.

I am a prospective student. What career opportunities exist for me if I join Fulbright?

Our students come to Fulbright with a wide range of interests and passions. As a liberal arts, sciences and engineering university, we foster these diverse interests through our courses and advising. All students have opportunities for one-on-one advising and connections with industry leaders and mentors. We encourage students to pursue internships during the summers and where possible during the academic year; we’ll also pursue experiential learning opportunities in connection with certain courses.

Will Fulbright secure me a job?

As mentioned, autonomy is an important factor for each person to develop their career journey. Thus, Fulbright is not responsible for directly securing any of its students’ employment following graduation. We believe this act will “steal” the prestigious chance for our students to grow independently.

Instead, the Career Services team will work with you over your four years to hone your career readiness skills. Through workshops, advising, career fairs, site visits, and mentoring relationships, we’ll equip you with the skills necessary to search and compete for jobs that fit your goals and interests.
